Hotel Iceland is located in the picturesque Solang Nala in Himachal Pradesh. Solang Nala  known as the adventure capital of Himachal Pradesh is situated at an altitude of 8500 ft above sea level and  is about 13 Km from the tourist town of Manali.

We started as a small hotel in 1996 and today have expanded to 28 rooms which include Super Deluxe and Premium rooms

Meet the Team:

Khem Raj Thakur

Khem has completed his Basic, Advanced and Method of Instruction (MOI) from the Western Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (WHMI) at Manali.

 He has been associated with mountaineering and skiing since 1989 and has more than 20 years of experience to his credit.

Khem is an expert skier and has represented India at the world cup 2002 held in Iran.

He has led more than sixty groups on various expeditions.

He has planned and led nearly 200 treks of various durations to different parts of Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Ladakh region. He has led many motor cycling groups on the Manali –Leh route. He has also taken a number of cycling groups to Rohtang pass. He has trained more than a 1000 persons to ski

A modest and unassuming person his priority is the safety of his groups.

 

Luder Thakur

Ludar has been skiing since 1990. He has won the national ski championship gold medal 4 times. He has represented India at the Asian games held in Japan, Korea, Iran and Kazakhstan.

He has been the coach of the Indian junior ski team for two terms and presently is the coach of the Indian national ski team. He also has experience of heli skiing. He holds the record of being the only person to ski down the slopes of friendship peak. (5300 m)

He has completed all his ski and mountaineering courses from WHMI manali. He has successfully led mountaineering groups to all the major peaks in Manali, Spiti and Ladakh regions.

Rajat Thakur

Rajat has completed mountaineering courses from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports in 2015 and was adjudged the best student of the course.

 He has represented India in skiing at the sub junior level in South Korea in 2007.

He has won medals in junior category at the national level from the 2008 to 2011.he represented India at the junior level in the games held in Italy, Iran and Kazakhstan.  He was part of world cup held in Germany in 2011. He has also won  medals in senior category of the Nationals held in 2013 and 2014.

He has successfully trekked to the Everest base camp. He has led a number of trekking groups to the various parts of Himachal Pradesh.

Sunil Thakur

Sunil is a mountaineer and skier. He has completed his ski and mountaineer courses from the  Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports  in 2007 and 2008. He has successfully led mountaineering groups in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh region. He has led cycling and motorcycling groups on Manali- Leh route and other routes in Spiti and Ladakh region.

He is in-charge of the hotel administration at Solang.
